Email Gets Poker Player Put On Exclusion List

This story was published more than 11 years ago.

An 888Poker gambler has found himself sitting out of the site's tables after writing an email to the site that spelled out his family's misfortune and tough living conditions after losing at the site.

It is unknown whether or not the email was sent as a way for the player to ask for financial remuneration from the site, as a joke, or a plea for help. Support staff at 888Poker read the email however and decided that the gambler may indeed have an issue with gambling addiction and triggered a six month problem gambling exclusion.

The site is known for its aggressive activity on compulsive players. Speaking about the issue an 888Poker official said "Such comments demonstrate a willingness to pursue losses, which can lead to further losses. As a company that actively promotes responsible gambling we feel it is our duty to try to avoid that our members develop personal and/or financial difficulties due to the use of our service."
