Online gambling company Unibet has decided to withdraw its operations inside of Spain in order to comply with the country's gambling legislation that will go into effect next year.
In an email to its affiliates, Unibet announced that its two brands Maria and Unibet will stop accepting player activity by Spanish residents on December 20th. The company will allow players from other Spanish speaking countries to continue wagering. Also, residents who hold Spanish residence that are not residing in the country will be allowed to play at Unibet's Brazil based casino starting on December 14th.
With the withdrawal of Unibet, there is speculation that the company is either applying for a Spanish gaming license.
