Georgia embraces online gambling

Online casino operators in Georgia have seen an increase in the online gambling market, with industry growth double that of the global rate.

As internet access grows in the soverign Eurasian state of 4.7 million many punters are seeking online gambling as an easy to access alternative to traditional forms of gambling. Poker sites are particularly popular among Georgians.

Currently the Georgian government requires a GEL 5 million (£1.935 million) to obtain an traditional gaming license, which then enables operators to obtain an online gaming license. An unnamed casino owner said, "Launching an online casino business is easier in Georgia than getting an international license."
