France Being Sued Over Self Exclusion List Failure

This story was published more than 11 years ago.

A problem gambler is suing the French government for €100,000 after the country's self exclusion list failed to keep him from wagering online.

The 37 year old gambling addict registered himself on the self exclusion list through the Interior Ministry, where his address was incorrectly posted to his records. The man was then able to access online poker websites. Currently France's self exclusion website keeps 36,000 individuals from gambling online.

The French government did not respond to the lawsuit publicly as the case has not yet been brought before a court.
