PokerStars Aims For New Record

Shortly after dealing its 70 billionth hand, online poker site PokerStars is aiming to topple another record.

PokerStars is looking to set a new player record for highest number of active players as the poker giant is celebrating its 10th anniversary of being in business. The current record sits at 149,196 players.

PokerStars is aiming to break the record through a record poker tournament. The goal is to bring in excess of 150,000 players to the tournament. The tournament begins on December 4th, at 12:30 Eastern Standard Time.

Poker pro and PokerStars team member Bertland "ElkY" Grospellier commented on the tournament, saying: "It's exciting and unique to be part of a world record attempt. I'm looking forward to doing it again on December 4. It will be great to see so many players come together to make history once again."

The tournament runs in conjunction with other promotions through PokerStars including a $10 Million Sunday Million tournament, and the 10th Anniversary Giveaway, which will award 100 vacations to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. The company will also be dealing out 10,000 cash prizes.
