Online betting exchange Betfair has announced that former Microsoft Executive Matt Lambert is joining the company as Director of Public Affairs.
Lambert's years at Microsoft saw him work as the software giant's Director of Corporate Affairs and Citizenship in Britain. He also has consulting experience, working with companies such as Banco Santander, BT, and Mars.
Commenting on his new position with Betfair, Lambert said: “Betfair is at a hugely exciting point in its future development, with the global regulatory landscape being of real strategic importance to its business. I look forward to working with Betfair’s skilled teams in Europe and other jurisdictions to ensure that the discussions taking place concerning regulation are understood by all stakeholders.”
Betfair's Chief Regulatory and Legal Officer Martin Cruddance also spoke about the hiring, saying: "Betfair is at the forefront of many of the conversations taking place that are aimed at creating a competitive and viable regulated gaming industry and Matt’s experience will be crucial in enabling us to build on this”.
