The Belgian Gaming Commission has reached an agreement with financial institutions and internet service providers that will block illegal online casinos from processing financial transactions.
Under the agreement, the BGC will provide banks and internet service providers with a list of illegal online casino operators. The banks will then be able to block the casinos from completing transactions. The ISPs will also be able to effectively block the casinos, protecting Belgian punters from potentially seedy operators.
Marjolein De Paepe, a representative of the BGC said: “Games of chance have always been forbidden, unless the gaming commission has issued a permit for them. Thanks to this agreement, we now have a powerful weapon in the fight against illegal online gaming, where before we could only wag our finger.”
