U.S. Open Tennis Championship Bans Online Gambling

The United States Tennis Association has taken a big step in combating gambling at the U.S. Open Tennis Championship this week, blocking internet access to online gambling websites.

The tournament which is underway in New York, will see access to foreign and domestic betting sites in the player's lounge and media center closed off. The web restrictions will take place "Anywhere we have control over it (online connections)."

Persons caught violating the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Code will see their tournament passes suspended.
