Party Poker Changing Its Rake

Online poker giant Party Poker has announced that it is changing the way it calculates its rake starting August 24th. The change will see the online poker room changing from its current "dealt" model to a new "weighted" calculation method, which has generated some controversy in the past.

In the new weighted calculation, each player is credited rake by a percentage of the money that he or she contributed to the overall pot. This is said to entice inexperienced players into games and differs significantly from the older model that Party Poker currently uses. Under that model, rake is calculated by dividing the pot amount by the number of players participating in the hand.

Party Poker has also announced that it plans to reduce the rake on its popular sit 'n go tournaments.
