Betfair's latest marketing effort is playing on a 1990's based Ferrero Rocher Chocolate ad, showing a party in a European ambassador's residence.
In the ad, Betfair changes the famous Ferrero Rocher line "Monsieur, with these Rocher, you're really spoiling us" to "Ambassador Dixon, with these delicious football insights you are really spoiling us". The pun comes in once it is realized chocolates have been replaced with betting balls and are carried by a butler on a silver salver.
When "Ambassador Greenwood" is asked about the accuracy of his rugby insights, he replies, "Eccellente" and a tagline on screen reads " Enjoy the reception at Betfair.com".
The marketing campaign of having company ambassadors is new to Betfair. They recently signed rugby player Will Greenwood, footballer Lee Dixon, cricketer Michael Vaugh and horse trainer Paul Nicholls to be the company's sports ambassadors for a one year term.
