In a release on his website today, Democratic Senator Jay Rockefeller stated that he supports online gambling regulation to help save the country from its economic woes.

In an eighteen part proposed solution that would save the country $1.2 trillion over years, Senator Rockefeller (D-WV) proposed that regulating online gambling would help both state and federal governments, with savings of $41.8 billion over 10 years to the feds, and $30 billion to states.

Quoting the article as one of his proposed solutions: “Crack down on illegal Internet gambling,” the senator recommends. “Establishing online gambling regulations will protect consumers, state’s rights and state sovereignty, and eliminate a huge illegal market that today benefits only countries and companies overseas, saving an estimated $41.8 billion over ten years, and an estimated additional $30 billion for states.”
