A new poker players' league which is headed by some big names today announced that it has signed a television deal with CBS.

Epic Poker League, which is headed up by pro poker player Annie Duke and former World Series of Poker Chief Jeffrey Pollack will see five of its tournaments televised on the Velocity network (launching in October), with 20 hours of programming to be created from those tournaments. Legendary sports announcer Pat O'Brien will be the television host, and co-hosting duties will go out to Ali Nejad who has previous poker broadcasting experience.

The league hopes to create tournaments with only the highest quality participants. It strives to achieve this by making players qualify for tournaments through previous results and wins in big tournaments.

Commenting on the deal, Mr. Pollack said, "Both companies share our commitment to providing a world-class stage and significant new exposure for poker's most talented live tournament players,"
