Bwin Wins Lawsuit, Gains Domains

Online betting company bwin Services AG has won a legal challenge against a Chinese company this month and will receive transfer of two web domains.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) ruled in favor of bwin in the dispute against Shenoyan, which is based in Hong Kong. The dispute will see Shenoyan transfer the web domains bwin2.com and bwin788.com over to bwin.

The dispute came to be after Shenoyan registered the two offending domain names in April and had a similar color scheme, design layout and included a bwin trademark across the page that runs similar to the one found on the legitimate website. Furthermore, a copyright notice read: “Copyright © 2011 bwin International Ltd”.

As of this report it appears as if the sites have been taken offline.
