A 37-year-old civil service worker from Newcastle in the UK has become the latest online gambling multi-millionaire after hitting a £2.6 million jackpot on Cryptologic's Millionaires Club progressive slot.

The software developer revealed this week that the punter's 90p bet at SkyVegas had brought him a fortune on the nine line, five-reel slot game last Friday thanks to success in several progressive bonus rounds. The win is the biggest yet at Sky Vegas.

The winner is the fourth player to become an instant millionaire from Millionaires Club, which was created and is licensed by CryptoLogic to a number of top online casino operators. The jackpot builds up as players across the Millionaires Club network try their luck on the game.

The biggest ever payout from the game was in 2007, amounting to $8 million.

The player told casino management that he plans to spend some of the prize money buying houses for himself and his parents.
