California's terrestrial Commerce Casino has already shown it is interested in online poker possibilities in its alliances with Indian tribal gambling entities in online poker legalisation drives, but this week reports surfaced that these moves are not the only irons Commerce has in the fire.

The company is using social networking site Facebook to build a base of online players, and has launched its first Facebook Fan Exclusive No-Limit Hold'em Poker Tournament, an event that will run online until next Saturday May 21.

The $50+$10 event has a small guaranteed prize pool of $10,000, and is only open to people who have "Liked" Commerce Casino on Facebook, according to US media reports.

Part of Commerce's Cal State Poker Championship tournament series, the event is offering technology prizes to the first and second place finishers.

"We are very excited about being able to demonstrate to Commerce Casino's Facebook fans how much we appreciate their support," said Jeff Harris, a casino manager. "At Commerce, we like to keep our tournament schedule filled with unique new offerings and this Exclusive Facebook Fan tourney fits right in."
