Lottery supplier Scientific Games has agreed to acquire gaming machine manufacturer and content provider Barcrest Group Limited from International Game Technology (IGT) for approximately £33 million in cash, according to a company statement released this week.

The transaction is conditional on obtaining UK competition approvals and certain third-party consents and is expected to complete during the third quarter of 2011, the statement revealed. Upon closing, Barcrest will be integrated into Scientific Games’ gaming divisions, The Global Draw and Games Media.

The deal will extend SciGames’ server-based presence in betting shops, pubs, bingo halls and gaming centres across the UK, as well as access to new lottery customers in Italy and the Czech Republic. Sci Games will also acquire Barcrest’s library of slot titles for internet and mobile channels.
