Harrah's and Dragonfish partnership remains strong

Industry observers were astonished over the weekend to read reports on some internet gambling information websites that Harrah's Interactive Entertainment had allegedly severed its b2b relationship with 888 subsidiary Dragonfish. However, it was all a misunderstanding in some quarters, and one which a little elementary research could have cleared up.

In order to ensure clarity, a Dragonfish spokesman pointed out Monday that Harrah's continues to use Dragonfish software, and recently extended the relationship to include Free Play poker in the United States under the WSOP brand.

He said that Dragonfish has also recently launched a casino with the same WSOP Casino brand in the UK market, and that contrary to the inaccurate reportage, Dragonfish can, and does, provide instant access gaming as well as download software.

The misunderstanding appears to be rooted in a 5 August Dragonfish release advising that "the incumbent software provider" - Gamesys - would operate Caesar's Palace Bingo.

The relevant passage reads: "Further building on the HIE relationship, Dragonfish is set to launch a real-money WSOP Casino offering to the UK market, followed by an additional Harrah's casino brand and separate bingo brand in the future. In order to maintain the consistency of the Caesars brand platform, Caesars Casino will be operated by the incumbent provider to Caesars Bingo."

The HIE - Dragonfish business relationship remains strongly in place.
