Using the online handle "Pattoned" the player, who's location and gender is yet to be advised, started a new life after winning the massive jackpot in what is being claimed as the richest online slots tournament the Internet has ever seen.

The high profile Grand Slam of Slots tournament boasted a 1.3 Million Euro prize pool with a first prize being of 1 Million Euros. There was also 300,000 Euros worth of additional prizes given away.

In total, 482 people walked away from the Grand Slam of Slots tournament with winnings.

Entry into the Grand Slam of Slots was strictly limited to just 8700 people worldwide, playing on Microgaming-powered online casinos across the planet. To gain entry into the Grand Slam of Slots, players entered satellite Freeroll tournaments.

The lucky players who won seats into the main event played on the popular Lara Croft Tomb Raider slot game. Players started with 9000 coins and were able to boost their chances of winning with three add-ons and unlimited re-buys at €20 each.

The limited number of players combined with the high number of major guaranteed prizes meant all players were in with a good chance of walking away from the Grand Slam of Slots substantially richer.

Charlie Goodenough, Head of Marketing, Ladbrokes Casino said: “This tournament was always going to be exciting with one million Euros up for grabs and it is a great honour to be involved in creating the first online slot tournament millionaire. The Tomb Raider game is one of our most popular games because it is simple yet fun to play. It is part of a portfolio of over 450 thrilling games including numerous variants of roulette, blackjack and Slots.”

The tournament started on Thursday the 22nd of October 2009 at 17:00 GMT and ran for 9 days across the Microgaming licensee network. The tournament ended on Monday the 2nd of November when Pattoned took down the jackpot.
