US lottery draw Friday ends a succession of roll-overs

The American lottery Mega Millions draw started Friday night with a jackpot of $333 million after a series of roll-overs when no winning numbers were drawn, and the latest news is that it was a big win for two at present unidentified ticket holders.

The winning tickets, which are now worth an estimated $166.5 million each, were purchased in San Gabriel, California and the Bronx, New York.

Americans have boosted sales by buying more tickets as the jackpots have grown to their highest in the last two-and-a-half years. A jackpot win of $333 million would generate a lump sum payment of $210.4 million

Although the biggest for some time, the jackpot is not the biggest in Mega Millions history. The largest Mega Millions jackpot of all time was $390 million split by two tickets back in 2007.
