The winner of the record-breaking progressive jackpot reported over the weekend by InfoPowa has been announced as Georgios M. from Greece in a statement from one of the longest established Internet casinos around, River Belle.
Georgios's €6.3 million on the Mega Moolah game sets a new record in Internet progressive jackpots, eclipsing last year's $5.5 million won by a Finnish player, also at a Microgaming-powered online casino.
Details on the player and his reactions to the windfall are still awaited.
Not so fortunate is a player on the Rival-powered Irish Luck casino, who hit a $215,412 jackpot on another progressive - One Million Reels BC - on May 10, but was apparently playing on a free chip, which in terms of the T&C's disqualified him (or her) from the jackpot.
According to message board reports, the winner is currently trying to negotiate some sort of comp points deal for his once-in-a-lifetime win.
