Tote Tasmania has announced that May 30th 2009 will be the launch date for its new sports betting business, Betasport, which will offer users a larger variety of prop bets and will target both Austrailian and international markets. Advertising for the new company will commence shortly.

Tote Tasmania CEO Craig Coleman says, "We will be offering our customers a wider range of sports-betting options than currently offered, including better fixed-odds thoroughbred coverage, and looking to introduce improvements to our website to make it even more user-friendly for sport punters.

"The move to operate our own sports betting business means Tote Tasmania is becoming a more sports-centric business. Sports betting is a major growth area, not only in Australia, but internationally."

Betasport brand was initially designed to target the Australian market, but has the capacity to become both a national and international brand. While Australian League Football is expected to be remain Tote Tasmania's most popular type of sports bet, the launch of Betasport will allow the company to offer a more diverse range of prop bets on a larger variety of sports and non-sporting events.
