The Vienna-listed online gambling group Bwin experienced rising gross gaming revenues (GGR) across its range of betting products during the financial year 2008, with GGR growing to €420.9 million (FY 2007: €353.5 million).
Sportsbetting was again the star of the group's results, with GGR up 21.1% to €235.4 million compared to the previous year, when GGR of €194.3 million was achieved. Turnover in the division grew by 31.4% to €2,927.4 million, much of it in the fourth quarter on UEFA Euro 2008 events and on the live betting product.
Online poker operations delivered a 14.2% increase in turnover to €94.2 million (FY 2007: €82.5 million), with the introduction of real money poker in Italy a milestone. Through its subsidiary Ongame, the Bwin group now boasts up to 45,000 players at the virtual poker tables simultaneously at peak times and guaranteed tournament prizes of over $15 million each month.
Online casino operations also showed increased activity, with turnover up 14.3% to €70 million. Skill gaming jumped by 37.3% to €21.3 million.
