The second edition of the 'Ante Up for Africa' charity tournament organised by Annie Duke and poker playing movie star Don Cheadle took place last week in the Brasilia Room at the Rio in Las Vegas, making full use of the gathering of poker stars for the World Series of Poker.
Reprising the first of these worthy tournaments, this year's entry field saw a remarkable turnout of celebrities in the 88-strong field, providing funding and publicity for the Not On Our Watch (NOOW) project, which puts the world spotlight on the Darfur crisis and other humanitarian crises across the globe.
The heads up between John Hennigan and Michael Degusta saw the former take the honours and the $136,860 main prize after a lively several hours. Degusta's second spot was worth $85,536.
