Horseracing is a very popular activity around the world, as people flock to tracks and watch on television to the tune of millions. Playtech has jumped on this with their Frankie Dettori brand of video slots. For those of you who don't know, Frankie Dettori was a legendary horse jockey that's shorter than my wife, but has won hundreds of more races than her. The company attached a series of jackpots to the game, with a Daily, Weekly, and the Sporting Legends Mega Jackpot prizes all attached.

The Mega Jackpot is the largest of the bunch (duh). It grows with every spin of the reels, and unlike the Daily and Weekly prizes, doesn't have a requirement to be hit by a certain time. This allows the prize to grow in value, which generates the huge prizes that we all like to see.

The Mega Jackpot can be won on any spin of the reels, and is set off completely randomly through the slot's Jackpot bonus round. This round sees you competing in a race to get through to win the big prize, but the good thing is that you're guaranteed to hit one of the three jackpots when you enter that bonus round. The larger your bet, the better your odds of entering that jackpot bonus round, although I'll say your odds still aren't great.

In terms of big hitters, the Sporting Legends Mega Jackpot looks like it will be a big payer. The tradeoff here is that it doesn't get triggered very often. I'm writing this summary up in September of 2020, and we've recorded one hit for the win since we started tracking the prize in February 2018. This means that the frequency of the wins is very infrequent, which stands in stark contrast to other Playtech jackpots like Gladiator, Age of the Gods, and Everybody's Jackpot, which we see hit all the time (relatively speaking).
