Roulette is played with a small wheel with pockets at the bottom. These pockets have a number inside each one of them ranging from 1 – 36. Each pocket is arranged in the wheel with alternate colors, black and red. One pocket also has a zero on it, and it is colored green. As the wheel is spun around by the croupier, he will also eventually spin a small smooth ball into the opposite direction of the wheel’s spin and wait for the ball to fall into one of the pockets. Players try to foresee where the ball might fall and place their bets on their favored number before the croupier starts the spin. Once the bets are in and the croupier starts the spin, players cannot move their bets anymore.
European Roulette
The difference between European Roulette and American roulette is not only the additional double zero placed in the American roulette wheel but also in some of the bets. European Roulette allows the players to bet on a number or any combination of numbers as well as either black or red and odd or even.
The roulette table of the European roulette has a chart or table where players can place their bets. There is what is called inside bets and outside bets on the roulette table. Inside bets vary from a single bet on a single number or what is called a straight-up bet to betting on, at the most, six connected numbers to make a line bet.
Outside bets includes the dozens bets which groups numbers in the wheel into three parts by 12. There is a also a high or low bet where players can bet on two groups of numbers, the range of 1 - 18 as the low numbers and 19 – 36 range being the high end. There is also the odd and even bet where players can choose whether the ball will fall on an odd number or an even number. The same goes for the black and red bet, players just choose whether the ball might fall on a black pocket or a red pocket.
Odds of European Roulette
Statistically, inside bets have higher odds than the outside bets. Players will get more money of they win by betting on inside bets. Players can choose to place more than one bet at one particular game, as long as the bet is different from the initial bet.
