Fruit has had a big place in online slots, but over the years they have become a bit stale in terms of presentation, as many of the slots are flat and look dated by today's standards. The Fruit Warp slot machine by Thunderkick gives us a fresh take on the fruit topic, and it manages to suspend the objects in a way that I'm sure nobody has seen in an online slot before.
Fruit Warp is a video slot that doesn't really have paylines as such. Instead it just throws nine pieces of fruit up onto the screen on every spin. I use the term spin loosely, as the fruit seems to be thrown at you from some indeterminate point at the back of the screen every time you click. Its kind of reminiscent of the popular mobile video game Fruit Ninja except the fruit doesn't fall off the bottom of the screen and you don't need a sword at your side. Instead the fruits are suspended in fluid, floating around and rotating in the process. Wins are paid when there are three or more identical pieces of fruit on the screen. Four or more of the same fruit generates a warp feature that takes out all other pieces, and gives you a second shot at gaining five pieces of the same fruit.
If you do get five or more identical fruit pieces a free spins round starts that varies depending on the fruit that triggered the feature. As the round plays out you have a meter along the bottom of the game that increments whenever a spin throws out one or more of the fruit that triggered the round in the first place. As you move along the meter, you can pass certain points that grant multiplier bonuses, and even an extra life of sorts. The round ends whenever you perform a spin that fails to throw up at least one of the the fruit that triggered the free spins, unless of course you have one of those extra lives up your sleeve.
There are a lot of great Thunderkick games out there, but Fruit Warp is one that will divide opinion. The presentation is top-notch as always from this developer, but the unusual and repetitive nature of the game will no doubt manage to wear on some players. With that being said, I'm sure that there'll be a bunch of people that'll love this game given its unique presentation and relaxing vibe, along with a bonus feature that can be quite lucrative if you manage to get on an extended roll.
