About Caribbean Stud Poker

The popular five-card stud poker game has been brought online for you by RTG. Caribbean Stud Poker in its online version offers you a few perks you would otherwise not get in a casino. There is a side bet which is won with a hand of three of a kind or better. If you are playing for real money the side bet also contributes to the progressive jackpot that you win if you are dealt a royal flush.

Caribbean Stud Poker information

In this version of Caribbean Stud Poker you are not playing against other players but just against the dealer. The game begins with you placing the ante bet on the table. You and the dealer are than dealt five cards. You can see only one of the dealers cards, which is turned face up and all of your cards. ON the basis of that you can choose to Call or Fold. If you have "called", automatically another bet is placed that is equal to your ante bet. The dealer's cards are then revealed as well and your hands compared. The stronger hand wins.

An additional twist to this game is that the dealer must qualify in order for his hand to be played. The dealer qualifies when he is holding in his hand an Ace and a King or better. Assuming that you have called the following scenarios could happen in the game:

  • Dealer fails to qualify - player wins on the ante bet and pushes on the raise bet, irrespective of the hand values (i.e. the player does not have to beat the dealer's hand).
  • Dealer qualifies and player wins - player is paid even money on the ante bet, and winnings on the raise bet according to the pay table (mouse over the table limit or jackpot value).
  • Dealer qualifies and ties with the player - both the ante and raise bets push.
  • Dealer qualifies and player loses - player loses both the ante and raise bets.

The side bet always paid out according to the cards and has nothing to do with the dealer. But if you do Fold on your bet you also lose the side bet, you must always call if you have a winning side bet in order to collect it.

How to play Blackjack Switch

You select your bet size by clicking the row of chips along the bottom of the table. Place your bet on the ante circle and optionally another $1 bet on the jackpot side-bet circle. Finally, hit deal - the cards will be dealt and you will have the option to either Call or Fold.
