About Royal Gems
Overwhelming. That's the word I'd use to describe my first impression of the Royal Gems slot from Red Tiger Gaming. The game jams in a bunch of gem symbols and looks gaudy, and the pay feature in the game is different from just about any other online slot that I've played. Once I got used to all of this though, I found a game that kept me playing for far longer than I thought I would.
The game is a 8 reel, 8 row cluster pays video slot that's set in a palace room where gold and gemstones are stored in abundance. The slot's icons are a combination of gems and card symbols and are as follows: clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades, an emerald, a blue sapphire, a pink diamond, red ruby, and a gold piece with ruby gem in the middle. The symbols can take one reel spot or four icons.
The game pays out when similar icons are grouped together on the game's reels. There needs to be five or more like icons that touch to set off a win, and then the reels are respun until the touching symbols aren't added to. You can daisy chain together many wins, but you're going to be paying for each spin, as the re-spins aren't free. There are some features that accompany the game, and they include free spins, sticky wins, and transforming symbols. The game's layout and features give it a posted return to player percentage (RTP) of 96%, which is average for an online slot machine.
Players that like reactor style games will likely enjoy their time with Royal Gems. I'm a big fan of these type of games, so I enjoyed my time with the slot, putting in more time than I thought I would. I even played the game on my iPhone, as I loved the action that took place on the smaller screen. This game is certainly different than the wealth of standard slots we see, and I was happy to test my luck with it.
