The story of Robin Hood and his merry men has been boring me for decades. I know people love these tales, but it's all so boring. You get a man sticking up people in the forest and redistributing the money, and the guy is good at archery… big whoop. Who cares? There's a ton of better stories out there to make slot machines on. You want to do something cool? Make a slot based on Blade Runner or cool robots that run a Dude Ranch. Still, Red Tiger Gaming has given us the Robin Hood's Wild Forest slot, which gives us the thief, and although the topic still bores me, I will say that the effort is at least pretty good when compared to the other games based on the topic out there.
The slot is a 5 reel, 10 payline video slot set in a forest hideout complete with treasure chests and gold sacks holding thousands of coins. The game's symbols include a number of standard slot icons (10s, Js, Qs, Ks, As) as well as beer mugs, Robin's cap, a sack of gold, and a gold lion. There are also wild symbols that include a heart pendant, Maid Marian, Robin Hood, and Little John. The game's features include cascading reels, random wilds, stacked symbols, sticky wilds, and sticky wins. The game's features and layout give the slot a posted return to player percentage (RTP) of 95.7%, which is about average for an online slot from RTG but a bit lower than what we see from other game developers.
In terms of gameplay, the game is okay. It's nothing I'd call groundbreaking, but it does play nicely enough. If you've read my other slot reviews, you know that I'm a sucker for cascading reels, as I love being able to string together multiple wins on a single spin. The feature here comes up as a special mode, but I think it's the best part of the whole game.
There is mobile compatibility built into this slot, but there's really no difference whether you play it on your phone or a desktop. I quickly became bored with the game and was looking to find the next game I was going to play. If you're a fan of the Robin Hood story though, you may just end up sticking around to steal a little gold for yourself...
