Everyone loves a good superhero romp, as the ability to use their powers to beat up the bad guys. NetEnt subsidiary Red Tiger Gaming wants to give you the power to win some credits in their 4Squad slot, which takes place in a metropolis complete with the developer's own superhero troupe.
4Squad is a 7 reel, 6 reel video slot, which takes place in that aforementioned city. The game's symbols include low paying hearts, spades, clubs, and diamonds, as well as high payers with each of the superheroes: Beam, Burst, Strike, and Quake. There's also a gauntlet, which is the highest-paying symbol.
4Squad has a cascading reel setup, which takes winning combinations and then having new symbols raining down to take their place. This gives you the chance to daisy-chain together multiple wins on a single spin. The game also has a gauge for each of the heroes, with one colour associated to each hero. If you clear enough symbols associated with the colour, you activate the hero's superpower. Beam generates multipliers, Burst creates a line of symbols like himself, Strike generates random wilds on the reels, and Quake eliminates all low paying icons for a chance to score more wins.
The slot has a bonus mode when you fill all four power gauges. This gives you a free spin where all four previously mentioned powers go off at once. For me, this generated a huge win and was easily the most impressive aspect of the slot.
I should note that this slot has a posted return to player percentage of 95.7%, which is a smidgen lower than other recent games that I've played. Still, this game is a lot of fun, and I have a favourable impression of it. It's one that definitely puts a bit of wind in your hero's cape.
I quite like the theme of this game, it reminds me of Marvel and Playtech series slots they used to have. I think that the graphics are great, but unfortunately my experience with the payouts are quite disappointing. I have had one win around 100x bet but otherwise the game is quite tight and it's difficult to get past 50x bet.
