I have finally reached the end of a long line of Asian-inspired video slots that have been put out by Playtech with the Zhao Cai Tong Zi slot, which has a cartoonish look and feel and manages to bring a right-to-left payout style, although this game does end up looking and feeling very simplistic, which is a pitfall that many of these games seem to have.
Zhao Cai Tong Zi is a 5 reel, 9 payline video slot that has a Chinese theme that looks a lot like the calendars you see at Chinese restaurants. The graphics are better than most, because thankfully Playtech was able to bring in symbols that don't look like every other game out there. Symbols include firecrackers, paper lanterns, bags of money, a small girl with a peach, a girl with gold vase, gold coins, pineapple, boy with fish, and boy with gold butterfly. There is also a game title symbol and a parade dragon, which serves as a wild. The game does have a posted Return to Player percentage of 97%, which is pretty high for an online slot. In addition to wilds, the game pays from right to let instead of the traditional left to right, which is a bit different and novel in some aspects.
I have to say that Zhao Cai Tong Zi is very simple but in terms of Playtech's Chinese games, it is among my favorites. Sure, I'd love to see more features present, but I at least give the game credit for looking completely different. While there are certainly better games out there, I like this one a bit more than the majority of the Asian games I've reviewed lately. If you're spinning the reels on this game, please let me know what you think in the comments below.
