About Genie's Hi Lo

Genie's Hi-Lo is a classic game that's also a lot of fun. It's easy to see why this one is popular with gamers. As the name implies, the underlying concept of this game is to guess whether cards will be higher or lower than the card that preceded them, as well as to guess whether successive cards will be red or black.

Note: this game is not longer available for play.

Genie's Hi-Lo information

Note that on this site we do actually follow several versions of the paid version of Genie's Hi-Lo. We have separate entries for the $.50, $1, $2 and $5 editions on our Playtech Jackpots page. So give the free version a whirl to get some practice and then see if you can parlay your skill into some solid winnings!

How to play Genie's Hi-Lo

Start by making an ante wager of anywhere between $.10 and $100. Next, you will pick a card from the genie's hand. The card will be shown to you, after which you must decide whether you believe the following card will be higher or lower, and if it will be red or black. Once you've submitted your decision, you pick a card from the genie's hand and see if you've guessed correctly. If you have, you can choose to walk away with your winnings or keep trying to go further up the ladder. The maximum amount can be won by making 10 correct guesses in a row. Remember, though, one wrong move means the end of the line!

There are a couple of important things to note here: First, the ace is considered the lowest card in the pile, not the highest. Second, cards are not 'removed' once you have seen them, so odds do not change as the game progresses. Third, the amount you can win on any guess is inversely proportional to the probability that something will happen. For example, if you are looking at a 2, you will be much more handsomely rewarded if you guess correctly that the following card is lower, as the probability of this happening is far more remote.
