About American Roulette

Countless classic movies, television shows and famous personalities have made roulette not only one of the most popular casino games ever played, but they have also turned it into one of the more stylish pastimes of all time. Even though American Roulette is probably the most recognisable variety of the game, it is the version which actually offers the house a stronger advantage vis-à-vis its European (or French) brethren as it features both a '0' and '00' number slots which do not correspond to any of the bet categories.

American Roulette information

With this version of American roulette, Playtech brings the online gaming world yet another winner. This game is very well made, as it features snazzy background music and an attractive female voice letting you know when to bet and if you've won. The only thing separating you from the real gaming floor is a waiter bringing you round after round of free drinks!

How to play American Roulette

The basic idea behind any version of roulette is to guess which number a plastic ball will land on. First, you place your bets on any number of potential bet types; second, you click on spin and hope that you've made the right call(s)!

Although the betting table might seem a bit intimidating for first-time gamers at first glance, the betting system in roulette is fairly straightforward. You bet on whether the number comes up is odd or even, whether it is red or black, or what exact number or range it will be. The pay table for each of the bet types can be seen by scrolling your mouse over the card listing the bet maximum and minimum. The types of bets you can make are:

  • Single number: Choose the exact number you believe the ball will land on.
  • Pairs/quadrants: Decide which of two or four numbers will be chosen.
  • Odd/even: Guess whether the number that comes up is odd or even.
  • Red or black: Take a stab at guessing whether the next number will be black or red.
  • Ranges: Guess in which range of numbers the ball will land.
