When it comes to witchcraft, you don't often imagine things being very cute. I rather conjure up images of a hideous beast like my mother in law mixing poison potions with a coven of other haggard wenches. Casino game developer Play'n Go has turned this on its head though with their new Sweet Alchemy slot, which sees a babe of a witch working to put some sweets in your mouth and potentially fill your pockets with credits.
Sweet Alchemy is a 5 reel, 5 row reactor style video slot that's set in the clouds and sees the attractive witch mixing spells with her cauldron to try to score some sweets on the reels. The game sees you trying to match up more than four symbols clustered together. Symbols in the game include a blue lifesaver, purple pyramid gummy, green crescent gummy, blue square gummy, red circle gummy, pink egg gummy, red heart gummy, and yellow star gummy. There are also rainbow peppermints, and sprinkle covered chocolate balls, which serve special purposes that I'll talk about below.
Features in the game include cascading reels, re-spins, free spins, wild symbols, and more, which are triggered by a Sugar Rush Meter, which fills up as you string together wins on a single spin. Filling up the meter becomes increasingly difficult, but pays out bigger bonuses as you do. There's also a Mix the Elixir round that sees you trying to mix three Elixirs to score free spins on a larger 9x9 grid. There's also an Elixir of Power pick'em game, where you try to get three matching potions that can award prizes as small as 2x the wagered amount all the way up to 10x your win total.
Sweet Alchemy is yet another good reactor/cluster style game from Play'n Go, similar to some of their previous popular games such as Gemix or Golden Ticket. It is deep, looks good, and is just so entertaining that I couldn't help but play it for a long time. The game has built in mobile compatibility as well, letting you play on your smartphone away from home. The bottom line here is that I cannot recommend Sweet Alchemy enough.
