Rise of Merlin is a 5 reel, 10 payline video slot that takes place in a castle, with magic orbs (or dust) seeming to rise into the moonlight. The game has a series of different icons, including fancy standard symbols (10, J, Q, K, A) as well as blue dragons, crystal balls, Merlin, owls, and an evil red dragon. The artwork is all well done, and the animations when a win is triggered is nice as well.
This game has a small set of bonus features, including expanding symbols, scatters, free spins, and a gamble feature. The gamble feature is your basic "put your winnings at risk for a chance to double or quadruple them", but the expanding symbols do a good job of generating some excitement on the reels. The expanding symbols are set off when you start the free spins round (3 or more scatters), where a random icon is chosen for expansion. The games then play out, with the expanding symbols boosting your chances of scoring a nice win. It is exactly the same bonus system that is found in Novomatic's immensely popular Book of Ra game.
The layout of the game, as well as the features, give Rise of Merlin a default theoretical return to player percentage (RTP) of 96.6%, which is pretty good for an online game. This slot is playable on both desktop and mobile devices, and it looks great on both. While I'm not a huge fan of the subject matter, I do think it has a lot going in its favour. Definitely give it a look if you're into magic and wizards, or if you enjoy Book of Ra clones.

Bonus round in this game like book of ra or book of dead. I like it
Rise of Merlin and Legacy of Dead are my most favorites these days.
Both are made after Book of Dead. I think that this game is better.
I really like Rise of Merlin, I enjoy the fact that you can retrigger the feature and get additional free spins and symbols. It's a really nice looking slot with good potential.
I even started to like it more than Book of dead. Base game is more energetic, maybe because of the different sound effects. I feel that that game is always alive because book of dead very often is really book of dead. Also that bonus round has more fun. You can have for ex. one cheap symbol and expect to get at least some winnings and one expensive for a miracle. My record until now is 3 symbols once. Biggest win if I remember it right for sure over 400 x bet
this is the best game so far im play playnGo slots. almost reveal all symbols on the bonus feature, but its still ok. i hit beautiful win over 1000x of the bet. so good, love this game
As much as I love play n go slots they really killing this book of the dead theme that launched then into the spot light with the release of the first one with Rich wilder now this this one , one that looks as though his sister is in it , legacy of the dead and Merlin of the dead it's a bit much
