Monsters are cool, and they seem to bring a lot of mystery and death to nerds that deserve it. If you don't believe me, watch any movie from the 1980's. It's true. Play'n Go is trying to bring horror with a bit of history to your screen with their Rise of Dead slot, which transports you to a pharaoh's tomb for a chance to win his treasure… or experience a terrible curse.
Rise of Dead is a 5 reel, 20 payline video slot that's set in a tomb, complete with eerie fires that burn in the background. The game's symbols include boring Jack, Queen, King, and Ace icons as well as the much more interesting three zombie pharaohs, who have risen from the dead and are looking to inflict terror on people. A gold scarab also floats around, ready to dole out wild status to players.
The features in the Rise of Dead game include wilds, free spins, linked reels, stacked wilds, and stacked symbols. The features do seem to hit frequently, even if you don't end up scoring a ton of cheddar each time. Of note in particular is the Mega Stacks feature which randomly selects a symbol on each spin to be stacked 12 symbols high on each reel. You can also enjoy a round of 10 free spins if you manage to land 3 scatters on the reels on a single spin. If you manage to land further scatters during the free spins you can win more free spins, and Play'n Go claims that the free spins round is theoretically unlimited. Finally there is a Gift of Gods feature that is triggered randomly, where the first, third, and fifth reels are fixed in place with the same symbol occupying all three positions, while reels 2 and 4 spin as normal.
The layout and the feature set give Rise of Dead a default theoretical return to player percentage (RTP) of 96.5%, which is about spot on with what most Play'n Go slots are at. As with all Play'n Go games though, there are lower RTP settings of this game available, with the lowest available being 84.5%. Always check the RTP using the game help button before playing for real money.
This game has mobile and desktop compatibility, and it plays and looks great on both. I myself tend to play more on my computer, but I like the compressed look of the visuals here on my iPhone. Get yourself ready to test the fates with this game by heading back to Egypt and taking the king's loot.
