Well, it's another day, another Ancient Egyptian-themed video slot. I've probably played more of these games than there are actual pyramids in the country. Play'n Go's Dawn of Egypt slot fits right into the stereotype, with familiar looking symbols that I feel like I've seen dozens of times before, not to mention features that don't do a lot to knock your socks off.
Dawn of Egypt is a 5 reel, 10 payline video slot set in front of an Ancient Egyptian temple, complete with eagle statues on the side. The game's icons are a combination of standard slot icons (J, Q, K, A) as well as pyramids, scarabs, scorpions, snakes, Ankhs, pyramids, lotuses, and different deities. The artwork is high quality and the animations are very well done, and when you strike a win the icons pop to life.
The features in this game include scatter symbols, wild symbols, free spins, symbol upgrades, wild scatters, and Pyramid Spins. Free spins are set off when three or more scatters are unveiled on the reels. A prize wheel then pops up and the number of spins you're awarded is determined with a spin. During the free spins round, a wild scatter pyramid can show up, and if you get two or more, the Pyramid Spins feature is set off. This mode allows for larger wins, with the top prize being 5000x your bet amount.
These features, when combined with the game's layout give Dawn of Egypt a maximum theoretical return to player percentage (RTP) of 96.2%. It should be noted though that Play'n Go allows casinos to choose from lower RTP percentages, with the lowest number available being an almost criminal 84.3%. Always check the RTP before playing a Play'n Go game for real money to make sure you're not being ripped off.
Dawn of Egypt can be played on desktop and mobile devices, and the game looks equally sharp on both platforms. I preferred to play on my smartphone, as the game does look great on the smaller screen. I like this game. From my very first playing sessions I am getting great wins. Also it is not a huge deal to hit a bonus game or at least I have that luck. Yes, many of them are terrible but quite often I hit and wins such 200-300 x bet. Bonus game is really entertaining and sometimes my heart stops 🙂
This is a game I have mixed feelings with. I really love the theme but when it comes to payouts I haven't had any luck. I have had a few bonus features and none have paid over 50x bet. I still enjoy it but my experience with payouts hasn't been great.
