About Battle Royal

For all the joys of being a king, I cannot figure out why one would choose to have multiple wives at different parts of their lives. I mean one is bad enough, but could you imagine having SIX like Henry VIII did? I mean the guy was either a complete lunatic or the biggest masochist I've ever heard of, or likely both! Casino game developer Play'n Go has decided to impart some of the King's misery on you with their Battle Royal slot, which has an old royal style to it while also giving you a chance to win some cash. Probably just enough to make you feel comfortable for before you get hitched again.

Battle Royal is a 5 reel, 20 payline video slot that takes place in King Henry's palace and includes a long hall with royal banners. The game's symbols have a similar regal look and include blue spades, red hearts, orange diamonds, and green clubs. When it comes to the royalty, you get the portly King Henry himself, a heraldic shield scatter symbol, plus all six of Henry's wives, each with different coloured clothing. Their dresses are blue, purple, green, red, orange, and yellow/gold, and each wife symbol is stacked so that it takes up the space of two vertical symbols on the reels.

The best part of this game comes in the form of the free spins round which can be triggered by landing a scatter symbol on the first and last reels. The interesting thing about the free spins round is that it could theoretically go on for a very long time as there is no set number of spins. Instead, at the end of each spin a guillotine blade drops down one of the reels at random. Should one of the wife symbols be on that reel, she is killed. But fear not! After she is killed all her symbols become a ghostly looking wild for the rest of the free spins feature. Once all six wives have been disposed of, the free spins round ends. So you ideally want to bump off a few wives to build up a stock of wild symbols, but then avoid killing them all to end the free spins round. Best of luck with that!

In addition to the above-mentioned features, there are is a Long Live the King bonus round, which is a pick'em game. Here you'll select chests with Henry, with the king trying to find treasure in the chests. Interestingly, his wives decide to haunt these chests for an extra chance to make poor Henry's life hell. You get to keep picking until you find one of these ghostly apparitions, which ends the feature.

The Battle Royal game itself is decent enough, if not my cup of tea for the most part. The slot looks sharp and plays well on both desktop and mobile devices. The theme is humorous, and kudos to Play'n Go for making this game as fun to play as it is. If you're looking for the royal treatment and don't mind a bunch of hags nagging you from beyond the grave, then Battle Royal is perfect for you.

This is a game I quite enjoy from Play'n Go software. I like the royal theme and the game play is quite exciting. I first tried it out at Slotjoint casino and the base game was giving me many 50x bet wins which was a good boost. Also the bonus round has quite a good winning potential so I'd say it is a game worth trying.
