About Gung Pow
Chinese culture has been a popular theme for slot machines for as long as I can remember. Over the years we have seen many slot machines that feature these themes, with some delivering a better experience than others. Microgaming is re-visiting China again with its Gung Pow video slot, which presents the country's contribution of fireworks to the world, bringing with it a series of explosive features that are sure to heighten the fun.
Gung Pow is a 5 reel, 243 Ways to Win video slot that honestly looks a bit basic when compared to the video slots that are being released by top developers today. The game's graphics are mainly comprised of card symbols (9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace), firecrackers, sparklers, lanterns, rockets, and noise makers. The game also integrates a wild symbol that carries the game's Gung Pow name.
Feature wise Gung Pow also contains wild symbols, a gamble feature, scatter symbols, and free spins. The free spin round kicks off when 3, 4, or 5 Scatters are unveiled on the reels. There is no scale up for getting more scatters on the reels, as players are treated to a flat 15 free spins. All wins taken during the free spin round explode with a 3x win multiplier.
Even though Gung Pow didn't knock my socks off with its graphics or presentation, the game is still fun to play. The features are difficult to come by, but when they shoot off watch out! The gamble feature is also a bit of fun as well as you can double up your wins if you pick the right colour of a card. While this is a more simplistic form of the gamble feature when compared to titles that allow you to quadruple wins by selecting suits, I think I prefer it.
If you're the type of punter who enjoys Chinese culture, then you definitely should check out the Gung Pow video slot and see if you can collect some large wins with the title's features.

I really dislike this game. For me it has only brought bad times and money losses. I've never had any winnings higher than 40x bet and most of them time I lose a lot. I am not a big fan for chinese new year theme because of the colors and the non-uniqueness but all in all this game seems like a money eater.
Yeah, me too. Winnings come more often on 9 lines slot when here on 243 ways. At least it's my experience. Theme also is not on my favorites list. I had one time big win from the bonus game but it was long time ago.
