About Sherlock Holmes: The Hunt
Sherlock Holmes has become a legendary literary figure since he was first introduced to us by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887. Not so legendary are the recent Guy Ritchie directed films starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Holmes and Watson, respectively. That hasn't stopped IGT from releasing their Sherlock Holmes: The Hunt for Blackwood slot, though, with the game developer porting the game from land casinos over to the online sector.
The game is a 5 reel, 30 payline video slot that is based on the film franchise, and includes images from the two pictures that were released by Warner Bros. Symbols in the game include Sherlock, Watson, Mary Morstan, a bulldog, pocket watch, magnifying glass, and pipe.
The game's features are deep and include a random win multiplier, wild symbols, scatters, free spins, and the Blackwood Bonus Wheel, which allows you to win large amounts of credits. The game asks you to pay an extra wager on top of your line bets to enable some of the features. While this may seem a bit rich, paying the extra increases the RTP for the game so I recommend that you always play with the extra wager. The features are many: firstly the Teamwork Feature randomly transforms all of the normally separate Holmes and Watson symbols into a combined symbol that increases your chances of winning. The Picker Puzzle feature is awarded if you land three or more scatter symbols on a single spin. In this game you must choose from objects scattered around Sherlock's office with cash, free spins, or a shot at the Blackwood Bonus Wheel on offer. Lastly, the aforementioned Blackwood Bonus Wheel is a wheel of fortune styled game where you accumulate prizes while trying to avoid hit the Blackwood symbols.
I have to say that when it comes to movie themed games from IGT, this is one of the better online slots that the company has released. The graphics are very sharp, the music and sounds are spot on, and the game features are a lot of fun. There were many times that the game really ratcheted up the anticipation of landing a big win with music cascading and coming in with an epic crescendo as a feature started. This made me feel like I was part of the action and I really enjoyed it.
Even if you aren't a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, I think this game is well worth trying. It manages to bring a blockbuster film to your computer screen and gives you a decent shot of taking home some big wins.
