Chat For members?

hi CL-Ed, holla guys 😉

I've came up with an intra-CL chat idea because of the recent events happening up here. Many complain that their posts have been deleted because of different reasons. Although it has not concerned me so far, I suggest the chat feature, as it will reduce non-quality posts and your work to delete them, CL-Ed, while the members will still feel connected and will not search other ways to communicate such as Facebook, Skype or other social networks...

If you say no, I will understand, this is just an idea, nothing personal , cheers 🍷

First, the only people that had their posts deleted were the group of friends who signed up on one day and proceeded to post on just about every thread that had been opened in the last six months, along with reviving some ancient threads, mostly with pointless one line comments that did not contribute anything. It is obvious what they were up to. Accordingly we have clarified the rules and instituted limits. So if you or anyone else is unhappy or disappointed about that I am sorry, but feel free to blame those who are trying to use us for their personal gain without actually contributing anything of value to the community. We run a very generous rewards program in CLchips, but It is a two-way street and we cannot and will not stand for people trying to exploit it.

As for live chat, I don't think it would work well for us at the moment - at least not an open chat channel that is on all the time. We have people from all over the world browsing and commenting in the forums, and they are often on different time zones and schedules. A forum is the best way of dealing with that, as well as the problems that live chat attracts such as spammers and people working for casinos etc. It is something that requires constant monitoring and to be honest we don't have the capacity to deal with that at this point in time. Maybe we could think about doing a live chat for one hour or something once a week or once a month.

I feel you about the capacity and honestly, I've not thought about the spammers point at all. As for the first paragraph of your post, that was exactly the reason of suggesting some other way of communication to the members like that. As for the changes I quite understand the idea behind them and accept the limits, while as I mentioned, it lead to compromising quality. By quality I mean contribution and value to the community.

As for me, personally I feel no actual need for chat, but I'd gladly chat with some members about some off-topic stuff, you are one of them I'd gladly have a word or two with 😳

My another suggestion is a report button- as the forum gets bigger and bigger day by day, why not set a report button to have better control over the spammers? I came across to one of them recently, and actually it's the first and the last case, but it'd be good to have something like anti-thank's button to express our feelings about someone's reply on our questions as well, or to let you know if you've missed a lucky spammer.
