Bovada giving me the runaround with my $9500 wire transfer request (resolved)

13 replies • Last post

May 21, 2020 I requested a wire transfer of $9500. I used my wife's bank account (I have since been added to the account) because I was told it wouldn't be an issue since the wire transfer wouldn't have a name attached to it (my wife's bank does not do third party transactions). Sixteen days after the approved wire transfer, the money was still not in the account. We contacted the bank to which they said that no wire transfer was attempted or declined by them. I contacted Bovada and was told to keep an eye on the account because the money was sent. A couple days later I contacted them again and was told that I needed to supply a letter of permission from my wife and a copy of her ID in order to have the money deposited to her account. I sent it. A few days later, I contacted Bovada again to ask where the money was and was told to send a running bank statement to prove the money was never received. I sent it.... 3 separate times. Now a month later and still no money was deposited into the account. I have talked to so many different people at Bovada and have gotten different answers. Now they are telling me that they don't know where the money is. I've asked on multiple occasions for the tracking number that EVERY wire transfer has and have been told that there isn't one. Hmm... doesn't sound right to me. Money doesn't just disappear and there is no way that any company is going to send a wire transfer for $9500 without having a way to track it. Even if the bank did reject it, it only takes 1-4 days for it to be returned to the sender. In the last month I have read so many threads and reviews about Bovada not paying out. Is this true? I've lost all patience with them

Bovada are among the best for payouts to Americans. That said, sending a wire transfer to an American bank for a gambling related transaction is just about the most difficult thing for an online casino to do, let alone when you are trying to transfer into someone else's name which is usually not allowed.

No American banks want anything to do with gambling so they will block anything that they think is related. Therefore the casinos use third party payment processing companies that try to get the transfers through without being noticed, and I've read that those processors can hold money for weeks or even months before releasing it sometimes. So if something goes wrong they are now dealing with three parties (you, the processor, and the casino) trying to work out where the failure was and it can take some time to reverse a failed payment. You are right that it should be sorted one way or the other by now though.

One thing I know for sure is that Bovada has a long history of genuinely paying out winners, and I am sure that they aren't trying to rip you off. Casinos are keen for people to switch to Bitcoin as payments are quicker, cheaper, and unblockable. However it adds the extra step of converting back to USD via an exchange. If that is a possibility for you, you would be paid far quicker and easier.

My wife had lower amount wire transferred to her bank f rom Bovadawith no issues which is why we asked about depositing to her account. Unfortunately it appears we were given incorrect information right from the getgo. I just can't seem to get any straight answers from anyone. They just keep repeating that it will take 24-48 hours for review. I'm starting to believe that the transfer was never sent given the information received from my bank.

I think its more likely that Bovada sent it to the payment processor but those guys never sent it on, or there was a problem between them and the bank. So Bovada then has to get the processor to chase up the status of the payment and work out what happened. If you are talking to your bank don't mention gambling or it'll never get through even if the processor does clear it. It sucks but it sounds like you're kind of stuck waiting until they find out what has happened.

I'll vouch for Bovada as I've gotten multiple payments from them. Like Ed said, they're likely dealing with a third-party processor that's holding things up. Best thing to do is sit tight and wait for them to sort it out. They'll do the right thing.

+1 for Bitcoin withdrawals. Ignition (Bovada) has consistently paid me with Bitcoin for amounts in the thousands and their fees have been negligible.

Traditionally I don't play a lot of slots there, but I'll play blackjack and also use them as my main sportsbook (until we get our online sportsbooks in Michigan in a few months).
