Have we just been scammed? Please help!

10 replies • Last post

hi,
My partner had recently signed up to 24pokies online casino, which is a scam casino but he didn't know that.
He has deposited a close to $500. He has had a win of $10,000.
It was horrible having to explain to him that this is a probably a scam as he was so excited to finally get a win.
Is there any chance this casino will honour the payout? Is there anything I can do.

There is no live chat, nobody answers the phone number and there is no messagebank.
He got a generic reply from email which requested id documents which he has sent back but thats it.

It's not coming up with a withdrawal option when I go to the banking page, so its still in his balance.
I feel so bad for my partner.

Does the casino ever do any payouts? If so, how did those players get them too.
I also am worried about them having all photos of all his identification documents, but dont want to cancel his credit card as if there is a chance of getting payout it will need to be active.

I dont understand why it wouldn't have been shutdown?

thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Hi Emma. Sorry to tell you this but I'll be shocked if they pay you more than your partner deposited. Some of these dodgy casinos do pay up from time to time but usually only to someone who has been playing there a long time and has already lost a lot more money than they are withdrawing. We verified that 24pokies were running pirated games after a member here raised it with us a few months back, but it sounds like you already saw that. I can see they are still offering faked games.

I don't know for sure about this one but a lot of these fake casinos are run by Russian groups. You are right to be concerned about having sent personal ID docs their way, as well as the credit card number.

You do have the option of calling your bank and filing a chargeback on your credit card to get your deposits back but you are right that it is the nuclear option. The bank is likely to cancel the card number and issue a new one which is a big hassle if you have automated payments for other stuff set up. But really, think about it: ID docs and credit card number with crims overseas vs a bit of hassle changing your recurring payments over to a new card number. I know which problem I would rather have.

Yeah sorry Shauno I don't like your chances. Talk to your bank about reversing any credit card deposits before the chargeback period expires.

Hey,
Just wanting to update;
I'm happy to say we successfully recieved $5000 in our bank account! It was done in less then 10 days too!
I thought about what you said CL-Ed and it gave me an idea on how to approach...
I sent an email to them (on behalf of my partner) which basically thanked them for the win, said how i think there casino is without doubt the best online casino and number 1 for players!
I said how I lose 1-2k a week at the other casinos i play at and never win and that i couldnt wait to close my other accounts and play exclusively at 24pokies.
Then added that all i was waiting to see was how quick and smooth withdrawal process is.
Next I spent back 3 grand of initial win plus deposited $50 a couple times ... Just hoping to convince them.
And hey presto $5000 in bank!

Thanks heaps for help, its appreciated.
Maybe this method might help similiar in same situation, worth a try maybe.

(Sorry for jumbled post, I do try, Im not internet or essay writing savvy lol)
Emma

Happy to hear that you have get your money.

I apologize for my thoughts. I am afraid with this post will open up opportunities for some rogue casino. I agree to see them always in a permanent blacklisted position and unforgivable. Sometimes someone who is not a member of CL thinks fast and read that the withdrawal of other player is secure in big forums, then make a deposit and lose their money.

I am just writing my doubts and the possibility to be careful, Hopefully we can keep good in the future.

He will never deposit at the casino again.
At the time of depositing he had no idea it was a dodgy one.

I agree, I dont understand why they can keep operating with no authority able to do anything?

I definitely didn't mean it in any way to encourage anyone to go deposit at a dodgy casino.
I just thought it may help anyone else if they were going through anything similiar.

That is bloody awesome news Emma. I love reading stories about scammers being scammed. Well played! 🍺 I think your partner owes you a gift or a night out or something!

Not to put a downer on it though - keep a close eye on your credit card statements for the next couple of months. If you see anything funny, don't hesitate to cancel the card.

Good point too bossulo - everyone else don't mistake this as meaning that the casino is good. I think morebeeswithhoney got extremely lucky this time.
