Queen Elizabeth II has died.

It's a very sad day for the United Kingdom and the commonwealth. Her Majesty passed away peacefully at Balmoral at 96. With the newly appointed Monarch King Charles III . Very shocking time for many people, sending support to all grieving for The Queen. R.I.P

Yeah, I saw the news a bit ago. She lived a long life and although, I wouldn't say "shocking" (she was 96), it will be a time of change for the UK for sure. Lots of merch gets sold in that country because of the Royal Family, and I'm sure there'll be tons lined up to cash in on the changing of the guard.

Very True! It's going to be a very changing time in many ways for the UK, it's shocking how fast she deteriorated, she had just appointed her new PM on Tuesday at Buckingham palace. She will indeed be missed

Ah yes I woke up to this news this morning. It is not surprising given her age and death of her husband recently. Old Charles finally gets the call up from the bench that he has been waiting all his life for, but it is pretty late in the game for him now too.

To be honest its no big deal for me or anyone I know here. Even though technically this is the head of state for my country we're talking about, the royal family are basically an irrelevance as far as my life goes.

I have to agree with you Ed. I've seen so many news / people posting about this and while I assume it will change how things are being run in the UK, I'm personally not really invested in this.

It has actually been quite surprising to me seeing all the fuss over this in Australia, because most people normally don't have a second thought for the royals. But still today you can't open a news site or turn on the tv without seeing report after report on this. And annoyingly they cancelled the premier league football for the weekend too. I'm quite over it now! πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž

Whoa. The last time I remember league-wide cancellation of events here was 9/11. That's zany that they shut down Premier League. Is it for mourning or something?

Yes it seems they jumped the gun to virtue signal, then none of the other major sports including the cricket and rugby cancelled games as they were not required to. I would have thought a minute's silence before the start of each game would suffice.

Oh yeah, locked knees will do that. I used to do ROTC in college. We would sometimes be assembled in a gym area where it was really warm. Standing at attention some doofus would lock their knees and eventually you're gonna fall just like that.

Horrible place and time to do it!

Lol, Very companionate statement Ed, But yeah I was a bit annoyed my self too, I've got the excuse not being a royal subject myself thoughπŸ˜‰

I think there was a suggestion PL matches to be cancelled this weekend as well but luckily it won't be the case.. let's just celebrate the good old Charles(πŸ˜‚) stint as per some suggestions here( won't name names) that wouldn't last very long...πŸ˜‚

And I'm sorry for hijacking the theme but just to express my indignation... how come Haaland costed City just 60 mill of whatever (that's Casemiro's price), it has to be the steal of the century... maybe the good old King Charles wouldn't allow anymore of that in his rain!?πŸ˜‰

I've seen all the craziness online, people queueing for hours, then there is a national holiday on Monday for the UK due to the funeral.

I can't wait for the coronation of Charles III. Do you think Harry comes to London?
