Video games

84 replies • Last post

Didn't find anything similar . Let's share the video games you would suggest to play. I will start with good old Gothic II. Very old, but a really great role playing game with interesting story line and multiple ways of playing it.

Good topic idea! I haven't played Gothic II, but I'll have to look it up and see what it's about. I've been playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition. They upgraded the visuals to 4K HDR and updated mechanics in the games to make them feel more modern. I sadly never got the chance to play the first one so I worked my way through it. A lot more of an RPG than the later two, but man they're all great.

Right now I'm about a third of the way through ME2 and am having a ton of fun!

I've been trying to go through my pile of games that I bought but never played. I finished Dark Souls a while back and I'm most of the way through Dark Souls 2. I like the challenge, though they are nowhere near as hard as the reviewers would have you believe.

Funny you mentioned Mass Effect slim, I have them all in a pack I bought when it was super cheap but I've never got round to playing them. Another in the pile of shame.

You would LOVE Mass Effect. It's honestly so good. I'm on 3 right now, and it's so great to see my choices from 1 play into both 2 and 3. I'm playing as a renegade, so I'm a jerk who does what needs to be done to get the job done. No room for empathy here, guys.

I never really got into video games. The furthest I've explored video games was with Resident Evil and Moral Combat.

Well at least you the two games you have played are epic , legendary titles , I remember mortal Kombat days , really brings back good memories , that game really pushed the boundaries as far as they could be pushed in those times

Have to blame my best friend for it! At the time got him a playstation for his birthday and that was the first game he wanted to get. So then I got to experience that haha. I did enjoy it a lot. Resident evil too, it can get quite jump-scary but that's what I expected.

I watched a documentary a while ago about a company called Midway who were the ones who made Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam. It is called Insert Coin and its worth a watch if you know those games. Mortal Kombat was hugely controversial when it came out and the ultra religious and moralisers were horrified and convinced it was going to corrupt poor little kids minds.

That sounds interesting. But come on, what nowadays can't corrupt kids minds? Of course, maybe a child shouldn't play a game like this but parents can simply not buy the game.

C&C Red Alert was. Top. And a right game like street fighter but with Ninja There. Shooter like soon was not for me. I was more into simulation simulation like Comanche We ha q pirate game as well, but a I cant remember the name Dune 2 was great.

Oh man, I've been playing some Sega Saturn games on my PC, and it's really giving me an appreciation of the console. I had a PlayStation, so I missed out. Any other games you recommend for it?

I'm just counting down the days until Horizon Forbidden West comes out. I've played the first one 3 times over again lol. Another one is Final Fantasy Remake 2, both games have yet to have release dates announced .

NBA Jam, was great, Sega Rally, Vitura fighter, I think they made 5of those. Panzer Dragon was epic. Olympic soccer was one of the first game with a game commentator. Sim City 2000. Later you could get all sorts of starnge no name games that never been on the market in Europe.

The Saturns version of Dungeons & Dragons Collection is something else. Mortal Kombat was shite. No blood or flying head's

I'm jacked for Horizon. FF7 Remake is great. Have you played the Yuffie DLC? It's pretty solid.

Iam not playing anymore these days myself, but they look amazing. In the 90s you basically needed a new computer every 4 months to keep up. There was a huge black market for ROMs, Rams and cards. For days we worked on the bloody things just so we could play Doom 2 smoothly.

Haha I remember those days! I have a pretty adept PC at this point that handles VR and stuff. I mainly am playing flight simulator as I work on my pilot's license. Nothing like playing that in VR.

No I haven't played it yet, I still haven't gotten my hands on a PS5 yet lol. I stopped trying for right now. I figure there aren't many games out that I really want to play, the FF7 Yuffie DLC being the only one, so I'll wait until scalpers calm their greedy nerves, and consoles are made more available for all to buy at a reasonable price.
Or when Horizon is released, I think all reasoning would get thrown out the window for me and I'd pay whatever I had to pay in order to play it haha

Hah just do like I do... wait a few years for the PS5 slim or pro or whatever they inevitably release that will be half the size, half the price, and half the electricity usage. By then there will be 100s of games to choose from for half price or less and in the meantime all the old ps4 and ps3 games just keep getting cheaper. I only upgraded from a ps3 to a ps4 pro maybe 2 years ago.

I'm on to Dark Souls 3 now after beating 1 and 2. Its slow going because I like to beat every boss and they are massive games that I only really play on the weekend.

I just wrapped the Yuffie DLC a day or two back. I found it more challenging than the straight story of FF7 Remake. But I loved it. I really like what they're doing with the game. It's the same, but very different.

I totally agree, there's so many fan theories out there right now, and without giving anything away the rather vague and very intriguing ending shooting in so many directions it seems haha its anybody's guess where the game will go next.

I just came across a Pre-Order for Horizon Forbidden West in the Playstation Store, due to be released 02/18/2022
Dont think ive ever been so excited for a game to come out in my life haha

I just saw they're making the PS4 version upgrade to PS5, so if you upgrade your console you'll get the PS5 version. Sony is cutting off the spigot though, and this'll be the last game that gives you the upgrade for free.

Most of all I prefer to play Dark Souls. Everytime I get bored of poker I go back to play Dark Souls again. I can also play Minecraft and Diablo 3.

I've been trying to lay low the last few months and just replayed Spider-Man on the PS5. It's awesome how the technology has completely eliminated load times in the game. You can be in one part of Manhattan and fast travel to the other side of the city in a second.

I snagged the Platinum for it last night. All that slogging through mundane crimes to get a temporary dopamine hit. LOL

Anyone going to play the new Halo? The multiplayer is active now. If anyone wants to play, message me. Maybe we can blast some Spartans.

Haha Lambino I am also a serial free game collector. I reckon I must have hundreds between Epic Games, Steam, GOG and Origin that I will probably never play. But hey they are free so I must add them to my collection!

I finished the Dark Souls series a while back and moved on to Bloodborne which is pretty much the same thing just a different theme. It's a good game but I like the Souls world and aesthetic more.

I love the Half-Life series of games, and now I'm playing the last episode - Alyx, which was released last year. Especially for this I decided to buy a HMD, with it you completely immerse yourself in this world and become a part of it. It's a bit of a shame that there isn't much of Gordon Freeman in this episode, but it's still a great game, you won't be wasting your time.

I'm late to the thread, but Gothic is one of my all-time favorite RPG series! There's nothing else quite like it.

These days, I mostly play Overwatch or 4X strategy games like Endless Legend or Civilization.

Oh man that brings back memories. I haven't played Civilization in decades but geez I used to waste some time on that back when I was in high school. What a top game.

How's the VR half life WButler99? I can't bring myself to buy one of those VR headsets. I'm waiting until they are the size of ski goggles or something instead of having something the size of a thick book strapped to your head.

I've heard nothing but good things about Alyx. I actually was looking for my Oculus yesterday and can't figure out where the bugger is!

I've been playing Far Cry 6. I got it on Black Friday for half price. It's a fantastic game, and I recommend it to anyone that likes open world FPS games.
