You too mate. It is horrible reading what is going on overseas as we have things relatively under control here now (fingers crossed it stays that way).

Things are starting to get a bit better here. Numbers are starting to drop, and restrictions are easing. My state just opened shots to those 50 and older. Hopefully in the next month or so they'll have it down low enough to where I can get my vaccination.

Hope things are getting better where you're at!

Yes vaccine rollout is underway, I am due my vaccine next month as I'm high risk so Ill have my 2 shots next month thankfully
Really hoping that everyone gets there shots and get this lockdown to end, it began a year ago and has barley eased since March last year. Anti vaccine people have been protesting lately which is frightening in modern day

It's a really weird and scary time. For us masks are mandatory everywhere (including offices etc-thankfully) and now they've closed restaurants for a month with only takeaway option. Hope you're all well guys.

We just got the option to dine-in again after having takeaway for several months. I actually prefer takeaway more than going out, as I'm not being annoyed by people! 🙂

Agree with you Slim, we could eat in groups of 4 (if I remember correctly) but I have really been trying to keep safe and haven't had a meal "out" in months. I guess it's just about the option of being able to, but that's a small sacrifice to make things better.

I think the number of infected have been gone up again here lately and because of that I think it's a bit odd that the restaurants & bars have been re-opened (at 50% of their capacity I believe) and I'm glad many people will keep their jobs because of it..but it looks like it's been done a bit too soon..at least for me.

We're back to allowing up to 50 people at parties in the one house. I don't think I've ever had that many people in my house at once but its nice to know that I can if I want to I guess!

Same here in Ireland, nó other household to enter any other home, we are at Tier 5 lockdown until April aswell, vaccine rollout is slowing down due to ack of vaccine supply, we ran out of the BioTech and Moderna Vaccine and are awaiting a supply of the newly approved Johnson and Johnson Single Vaccine. I'm awaiting my letter to get one hoping it's soon

Just a year, in some ways it feels like a lifetime!

The level of cases in many countries is scary and mind blowing. Our vaccine rollout has been slow, but honestly given the situation overseas, I think we should give more of our share to other countries in greater need.

We have been in a lockdown with only essential shops open for 3 weeks now. And the cases are rapidly dropping, which is great. But it makes me think what will happen again when they reopen restaurants and other businesses since the people are sick of staying at home. Hopefully people will still be careful though.

In Michigan our cases are rising really rapidly again, some of the worst numbers in the country. It's interesting because we've got over 3 million that have had the first dose and almost 2 million that have had both.

I hope we don't have to go on lockdown again!

Yes, take care all!

It's going to take a while to get anywhere near back to normal I think. Australia and NZ officially opened their travel bubble yesterday so we now have travel between the two countries without the need for quarantine. This concerns me slightly as our vaccination program is a shambles with even our most vulnerable still not completely vaccinated. Despite this, the federal government has been making noises about possibly moving from hotel quarantine to at home quarantine! 😳

I too do not want to go into lockdown again!

That's wild. I'm getting my second jab today. Our county had been the highest in regards to new cases in the entire USA recently. It's really bad with younger people. I think I saw something on the news that a huge rate of new hospitalizations in Michigan are people 25 or younger. That's crazy. Out in the Thumb its really bad, too. That area is all farmland, so I think getting vaccines out to those folks hasn't been as good as where I'm at.

Glad you're getting the second jab Slim, the sooner everyone gets vaccinated the better.
I think the early messaging that it didn't affect younger people as much is coming back to bite us.

I did this little questionnaire put out by the government to get an idea of when I would likely get my jab - end of 2021 possibly 2022!

It is slightly getting worse here. Bad conditions will probably continue until early 2022.

The second dose is no joke! I got it and was fine until about midnight, then it kicked in. I got a fever of 102, chills that caused shaking, nausea, muscle cramps, and pain in every joint. I've also had a headache for the last 36 hours, which is killer.

Still, it's worth it, as getting sick with Covid would be the worst. I'm hoping it gets better soon, though!

It is good to know about the real experience. What vaccine did you get? Moderna or Pfizer ?

Moderna. Headache is still raging as of Friday morning my time. I reached out to the doctor as they wanted to have me report if I still had it. Going to try to get a prescription for something to kill the headache.

Right here in Alberta, we can't seem to win any battle. I live in NE Calgary and it's been the hotbed of the entire province since the beginning of this pandemic here. Still I have yet to catch covid, and oddly enough, I've been lucky enough to not even catch a simple cold this past year and some.
I have worked from the start, 6, sometimes 7 days a week. I just keep my distance from people whenever possible and wash my hands regularly, and that's all I've done differently since pre pandemic .

Hahaha, I have reverted to doing the same Slim, I dont know if I'll eat in a restaurant for a long while. I don't miss it at all. I do however feel the pain for these folks that have their lives invested in family run restaurants and are losing everything because of all this. Work your entire life just to have it taken by something that is completely out of your control. That's gotta be tough.

That is so true. Around here its interesting because all the restaurant and cafe owners paying the big bucks to rent in the city have been slammed with loads of people working from home and therefore no-one around. But on the other hand a friend of mine who owns a cafe out in the suburbs where people actually live is having one of his best years ever.

Ugh. Would you believe that once again we are back in lockdown in several cities in Australia now?

There's a new strain doing the rounds that is highly infectious and spreading fast. Our government incompetence in securing supplies of vaccines means that less than 5% of people are vaccinated and it is going to take probably another year at least until everyone is vaccinated. We're pretty much last in the OECD on that metric.

A few months ago one government idiot stated in a press conference that "its not a race" to get vaccinated. Well ... er ... it sure looks like it is.

I find it pretty wild that you guys are having such a hard time getting the vaccines over there. I mean the American healthcare system is insane, but we have it down to the point where you can walk into the drug store (or even some supermarkets with pharmacies) and get your jab without an appointment. We're literally swimming in vaccines.

I wonder why we're not shipping off some of the huge supply we have to places like Australia.

I'm not a scientist or a doctor (but sometimes I play as one in a slot machine) but it seems to me like it would have made a ton of sense to have procured those vaccines ahead of time. You guys have had a relatively low number of infections, so if I was going to get shots out somewhere it'd be a place where there hasn't been much of the population getting antibodies from having naturally caught Covid.

Who knows? I'm rambling. I hope you guys stay safe and I hope your government gets it together and gets those vaccines out to you!

Our government pretty much went all in on the Astra Zeneca and even started getting it manufactured locally here. Then the blood clot scare started so they paused that for people under the age of 50 and tried buying Pfizer from overseas, which of course has not worked out because we're at the back of the queue now.

With the low number of cases they were feeling pretty smug and complacent and didn't treat it with the urgency required. Now we are screwed into getting vaccinated slowly in dribs and drabs over the next 12 months and hoping these new strains don't explode. I was supposed to get my first shot at the beginning of June but I had a cold so had to reschedule and due to the supply constraints the earliest date I could pick was 6 weeks later which is still another two weeks away now. If you're trying to book now you probably wait a couple of months.

The messaging is also very mixed and no-one in government seems to know what they are doing. One day the prime minister says people under 40 can voluntarily get the Astra if they want it and he is immediately contradicted by doctors who say no they can't give it. It's a colossal balls-up.

From what I have read and heard Astrazeneca is the best vaccine yet despite a lot of criticism and twists and turns because of the reporting of side effects after starting its use.
