Cover Songs

17 replies • Last post

I like to listen to songs, original and covers, sometimes, happy to find very good cover songs and performances.

I would like to start a new thread to share cover performances
Hope to see your findings and favorites too.

My first one is Love Never Felt so good of Michael Jackson, performed by a girl.

I don't play guitar, but it sounds really different.
Please, say something about her guitar skills, if you know how to play and tell ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh my. I have a friend who is trying to teach me to play the guitar at the moment. I only started a couple of weeks ago and my fingertips were really sore at the start, but now I'm getting calluses.

Anyway I am jealous of her skills. I still can't get the chords right because I'm always touching the wrong string with the side of my finger while I hold another one, or the bottom string with the palm of my hand accidentally. And don't even suggest trying to mute the top string with my thumb like she is doing. My hand just won't do that! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

And she sings so well. When I sing it sounds like a cat being strangled. So you're never going to see a video like that from me! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'll sing for you, Ed! Are you learning electric or acoustic? I used to play an acoustic, but I was never really good at it, and with my bad hands, I gave up on it.

Coolsongss, that cover is really good. I like her voice!

Electric is a little easier on the calluses, but acoustic just sounds better in my opinion. Keep us posted on your progress!

Acoustic music is the best, and a good cover at a bonfire is as good as it gets.

Here's some of my favorite covers.

That last one is a cover but does feature a couple members of Led Zeppelin, so is that a cover? ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is Chris Cornell doing a cover of One by U2 but using the words from One by Metallica. RIP.

Another good cover by Chris Cornell. Nothing Compares 2 U by Prince. Also included the one by Sinead O'Connor which was excellent as well (Also a huge hit back in the day).

I got a lot more respect for Adam Levine after watching this cover of Purple Rain by Prince

No idea who Adam Levine is but that is a good cover of probably my favourite Prince song.

Edit: oh my he's the guy with the awful voice from Maroon 5, who I think are horrible. I never would have picked that.

I'm learning on an acoustic guitar. That's not for any reason or preference, it's just the one my friend loaned me to practice with. I've read that learning on an electric may be better, even without an amp, because the neck is thinner and the strings are closer to the fret board which makes the fingering easier to learn. I'm struggling a bit with it because the neck is so wide on the guitar I have and its tough to avoid unintentionally touching the wrong strings.

Haha yeah. That's why I said I had more respect for him after that cover. I didn't take him seriously but he's more talented than I originally thought.

Not sure if you've ever heard the original versions of "anthems for a seventeen year" but this is a really cover. He does a ton of unique covers.

I don't really like Kpop idol music, cause I just can't listen and understand what they're saying ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyway, this ochestral choir arrangement sounds great.

Anyone remember Maniac? This is a cover by Carpenter Brut and I reckon its better than the original.

I dig it! I fell into a hole working yesterday with some bluegrass country covers of popular songs. It's actually good!

Here's your obligatory Africa cover, Ed!

Geez I fell like I've walked into Deliverance after hearing those. Kryptonite... not too bad. But the Africa cover is awful!
