Hi everyone. Once again in 2020 we are running our annual Academy Awards tipping competition, giving you the chance to win some CLchips to spend in our shop.

You can win yourself up to 200 CLchips by predicting who will win at the 92nd annual Oscars, which will be held on Sunday February 9 at 5pm U.S. PST.

The rules are simple:
1. Entry is free to all Casino Listings members. Register here if you aren't a member yet.
2. Nominate your winner in each of the categories below in a reply to this thread. The person who picks the most winners scoops the pool of 100 CLchips.
3. If there is a tie we will split the pool evenly.
4. If someone gets every single category right, we'll double the prize to 200 CLchips.
5. Entries close at the beginning of the Oscars ceremony on Sunday February 9, 2020, 5pm U.S. PST.
6. You can enter multiple times if you change your mind, but only your last dated post will be used as your entry.

We have expanded our list of categories this year and you now have 11 categories that you need to pick from plus our traditional bonus question at the end to make it 12 in all.

Oh, yeah, I have been waiting for this competition in CL 🙂
I saw several movies, The Irishman, Joker, Once upon a time in Hollywood, Parasite, Toy Story 4, etc.

To me, The Irishman was like a Forrest Gump Mafia version 🙂
In Forrest Gump, there are some famous lines like Run Forrest Run.
Or Life is like a box of Chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

But, in The Irishman, you will hear 😂😂😂

I am concerned.
I am a little concerned.
I am more than a little concerned.

Once upon a time in Hollywood was a good moive. I don't really know much of history of Holloywood, but I could felt that the movie was full of famous events and happenings, and the incidents, etc.

Well, Joker was very good. But, I think that it falls a bit short to The Taxi Driver and the King of Comedy by Robert De Niro.

I will make my entry soon 🙂

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood AND Marriage Story both left me with such an overwhelming sad feeling at the end. And I am not one to cry, but knowing the story of Sharon Tate, and her mother's fight to keep her murderers in prison, it just felt....well, eerie and very sad and I shed a few tears.. Marriage story had unlikeable characters yet it was so...real. And that ending. Wow.

Loved the Joker as a fun, campy movie and seeing Joaqun Phoenix at his best. My absolute favorite movie of this year is JoJo Rabbit. I have already seen it twice and I am ready to watch it again! Talk about mixed emotions. And oh, that Taika Waititi!! 🙂 Supposedly based on a book written by a super model! lol!
I haven't been able to find 1917. Not even on my HD Cinema app, so that is the only movie that I really WANT to see that I was unable to see. I have seen all others except Little Women and Ford vs. Ferrari. And I still want to see: Judy, Harriet, and Bombshell, in addition to 1917. Parasite - what a study on economic disparities with a crazy, wild ending.

Okay. That's all folks. 🙂

Who won lol I've been so busy these past several months, I have hardly had any chance to even know some of these movies existed all together. I was going to just guess all the way through but again, found myself busy with work lol.
I'm still eager to find out what Casino Listian is taking home the prize this year.

Wow, it's was a mixed bag this year with Parasite taking a few categories! Not sure that anyone got the bonus question right this year! 😀

Loved the speeches by Bong Joon-ho, he is a hoot! And his thanks to Tarantino and Scorcese was very classy. Despite the Oscars being panned this year for being too white, old and male, the wins for Parasite balanced things out a little bit.

One of the movies I saw from the list was the Marriage story. I love Scarlet Johanson in pretty much everything and I liked the movie so I'm glad she was recognized for her role! I haven't seen the Parasite movie but it seems that it did pretty well so I'll add it to my watchlist.

Alrighty then, here are the award winners in each category:

1. Best Picture: Parasite
2. Actor In a Leading Role: Joaquin Phoenix, Joker
3. Actor In a Supporting Role: Brad Pitt, Once upon a Time...in Hollywood
4. Actress In a Leading Role: Renée Zellweger, Judy
5. Actress In a Supporting Role: Laura Dern, Marriage Story
6. Animated Feature Film: Toy Story 4
7. Cinematography: 1917
8. Costume Design: Little Women
9. Directing: Bong Joon Ho, Parasite
10. Documentary feature: American Factory
11. Visual Effects: 1917
12. Which film will win the most Oscars? Parasite (4)

That was probably the toughest year to pick that I can remember. I would have been lucky to get 2 or 3 correct picks. I noted that everyone picked 1917 to win the most Oscars and ... we were all wrong. Let's see then:

10 coolsongss
10 sharpe
8 instlouis
7 ButtBongoFiesta
7 CL-klaw
7 hope777
7 Matthew
7 vomvom12
6 blck
5 wildgerri
3 CL-Ed 😳

So it is a tie for first place between coolsongss and sharpe on 10 each. Did you guys notice that you both picked exactly the same choice in every category? That means you share the pot with 50 CLchips each.

Congratulations and thanks everyone for playing once again.

I wanted Parasite to win, but I thought 1917 would win. I have to stop listening to the "experts." I should have known it was the year for a film like Parasite to sweep. If you noticed, I changed it, so if I had picked Parasite for my first and last answers, or made them the same as CL-Ed's, lol, I would have gotten a little closer to the winners.
I get worse at this every year instead of better, and I am a movie buff! lol I did rush my entry in for some of the 'lesser" categories this year, and my heart wasn't into it as much as usual, but I still had fun. THANK YOU CL-ED for doing this year after year. Also, you got the most important entries correct - first and last! 🙂

SO HAPPY that Taika Waititi won adapted screenplay. He appeared so nervous up there, and genuine.

I thought Joaquin Phoenix's speech was the best I have heard in a few years. Wow. He has really grown as a person.

And the surprise of the night (for me, at least) Eminem! What was it 17 or 18 years he won for that song for Eight Mile? Nice!

Finally, I adore Bong Joon Ho - he is so humble, and the man is FUNNY! He did not need his translator to say, "I will drink until morning!" 🙂 Hahahahaha!

CONGRATS to the winners! Also, congrats to all of us who took the time to enter. lol

One last THANK YOU CL-ED for providing us with a little fun and a nice prize for the winners.

THANK YOU! 🙂

And excluding the female directors. I loved the way Natalie Portman honored them.

If you all haven't seen JoJo Rabbit yet, I HIGHLY recommend. The best movie I have seen in a VERY long time. MY personal favorite of the year (with Parasite coming in a close second). 🙂

Well done coolsongs and sharpe....didn't you guys win it last year too??

That WAS subtle, but a nice touch. I do love Natalie Portman - she's not only graceful but smart! In this age of social influencers and ditzy celebrities 🙄it is heartening to have strong, intelligent female role models for our girls.

Agree, and it was so lovely that he did the first ever land acknowledgement speech at the Academy Awards...living in a very progressive part of Sydney, acknowledgement of country is a regular occurence at school functions and official events so I was quite surprised that no one had done it prior.

No, I wasn't aware at all Ed.

You've said it should be toughest ever contest but I'm not sure, it was probably quite logical that if Parasite wins the best movie award, it would win the best director and respectively most Oscars so I'm a bit angry at my self for not risking enough and going all the way.

And I thought I have no chance this year cause I've just make a quick 20 min research about it...no need to mention I didn't seen any of these movies yet.

Congrats to coolsongss for thinking alike with the smart men! Just a joke of course.

Thanks to everybody involved for taking from their time to participate..all deserved a praise and especially to you Ed for making it possible. Cheers guys🍺

There will be a new film or what? I think I've read something about it here but can't remember.

Surely Kung Fury will be the winner in all the categories if we're all in the voting committee (or whatever they call it) guys😉 Ed's fault that by the way for addicting us😉

This year is very bad for Oscar, too.
I went to movies, and watched nearly alone in the big auditorium.

Anyway, this video is funny to watch 😀
