Happy new year everyone.

I know some of you are almost there, but here in the future it is already 2020 and so far it has been a hell of a lot better year than 2019. Not that it set a high bar to pass. Anyway fingers crossed that this year is a whole lot better than the last in so many ways.

I usually love the fireworks on NYE but this year it was a sombre affair with the horrifying fires still burning in NSW and VIC. These images show starkly different views of NYE for people in NSW πŸ˜’πŸŽ‡πŸ”₯

Bring on 2020, let it rain, let it rain, let it rain! May 2020 be a year filled with luck, health and happiness for everyone. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! One of my goals for 2020 is to make a consistent side-income from poker and not put too much of it back into slots πŸ˜‰

if you ask me...it's much harder to make a consistent side-income from poker
then playing slots

Klaw and Ed, I hope the fires aren't getting too intense out your way. We keep seeing stories on the news, and can't imagine the destruction going on.

Thanks Slim , and Happy New Year's. Not many plans, get back on both feet while last year I was able to battle my way back onto one, only option is to keep battling to get back on both.
My new years resolution last year was to play more disciplined, know when to walk away and cashout mainly. In 2019 I did that, and I did it incredibly well. I cashed out way more by a massive margin compared to the years before. But I also deposited more.

New years resolution for 2020, stay disciplined, while depositing much less.

Thanks for the well wishes folks. The fires are horrible for the people they are affecting, but I am fortunate enough that they are not close to where I live. There have been some very hazy days and a few weeks back my backyard was so smoky that I went outside fearing that a nearby house must have been on fire. It was like a thick fog, only bushfire smoke in the city.

We have not had a good rain for months and I don't think any is forecast any time soon. The forecast for tomorrow is another 40+ degree scorcher (104F) so no doubt the fires will flare up again. At this point I think putting them out is impossible. They will just go on burning until they run out of fuel or it rains. All the firefighters can do is try to divert them away from where people live, but they are pretty much overwhelmed now.

It is a sad reminder that the changes we have made to the world are going to make this sort of thing more common yet still we have politicians and other fools here in denial of climate change. It has been a real shitty end to what was the shittiest of years.

Sorry to hear CL-Ed, I can relate though. 2018 Calgary had a record for the most days full with smoke from the forest fires in the neighboring province of British Columbia, and south of the city as well as North west. It looked like a thick fog almost every day for months on end. But the smell screamed otherwise.
I was a volunteer fireman for a couple departments over the years. Its stories like yours that make me want to rush in and help out.
You're right though, if they are clearly outmatched, they will focus all their strength and manpower towards diverting the fires away from people, and evacuating the areas they know they just cant save right now. Those men and women absolutley hate that feeling of telling people they need to flee their homes.

hard stuff what you have to report. it's terrible for the people who lose everything ...
and that there are people who really still deny climate change is really ridiculous.
when i was a little boy we had snow for christmas this year it was + 13 degrees ...
+ 15 last year...

Sounds familiar vomvom12. I read they needed to ship in some artificial snow in Red Square in Moscow this year.

WaroftheGods, thank you for volunteering like that. If it wasn't for guys like you many more people and homes would be lost. Some of the volunteers here have been off work for weeks or months now. Responding to public pressure to compensate them with a bit of money our prime minister declined and said he didn't want to ruin the spirit of voluntarism and that the volunteers wanted to be there and wouldn't want the money. After it was pointed out what a scumbag he is he offered some small token amount to government employed volunteers only. If only the fires were close to the muppet's house, then he might realise what these people must be feeling.

At least we did get to see these timeless videos. That's the good old Aussie spirit... calling the prime minister an idiot and fuckwit to his face and telling him to piss off. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

This really sums up the response...

Unfortunately, Australians on the whole are too ignorant/oblivious to the realities of climate change (among other issues) and will keep voting in the LNP. They refuse to connect the dots.

I don't know about that πŸ˜‰ Slots are inherently rigged against the player whereas at least poker is a game of skill where you can influence the outcome. You never hear about a "professional slots player", right?

I have actually been doing consistently well at poker for the past few months playing casually on the side. I'm only playing low stakes (mostly $0.05/$0.10) and I was able to make $621.59 AUD (424 USD) this past month. It's become a nice source of passive income with very little effort required.

Plus it's a lot of fun!

yes looks like you are doing pretty well at this stakes...πŸ‘πŸ‘
maybe it is because i am a terrible poker player😎

anyway...but poker is not only a game of skill's it is also
a game of luck. when you get dealt one bad hand after an other
then you simply can not win.
sure there is more luck involved if you try to win at slots then playing poker.

That's true, you really have to be patient with poker sometimes. I usually have 1-2 tables running on another monitor while I work or on my iPad when watching TV...that makes it easier to wait for good hands πŸ˜‰

Yeah, full ring seems to be more forgiving post-flop and I get better results than I do in 6-Max/Zoom.

I have been playing at Ignition Casino but yesterday I signed up for Nitrogen Sports and tried their crypto-only poker tables. The games weren't as soft as I'd expected, and sometimes there isn't even a full ring game up and running, so I'll probably stick with Ignition in 2020.

I wonder if the games will get tougher as the holiday season draws to an end..? They probably will.

ah yeah i remember the bovada poker software which is now part of the ignition casino.
bovoda left the german market a year after i start playing onlinepoker.
german players are not allowed to play at ignition casino...but i think ignition is a very
good choice to play at. they are well known for their soft competition...no hud's
only anonymous tables.
don't get me wrong but that is for sure one reason why you can make such a nice
profit. i mean eg pokerstars is great..good softwear good promotion and the player pool
is unbelievable huge...no matter at which time you want to play...sit & go's are filled up in a second even the hyper turbo 180 player games are filled up in a minute but the
competition is one of the hardest you can find...if you sit downe at a 6max cash game
table with 5 players you can be sure that there are 3-4 regs are sitting at your table as well..
so why change a running system😎

HNY CL folks...well just folks cause I'm feeling many of you as a friends!

Never been good at wishes but have a multiple x good year ahead compare to the previous one...as Ed said above it shouldn't be that hard cause the standards are not high at all..well at least for me) πŸ˜‚

I won't bother setting any goals for my self personally cause I won't even try to follow them anyway...so let's be honest..it's just easier that way..πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I don't really believe in making several huge goals for the year, yes, in the beginning you might be inspired to achieve them but then life happens and you find yourself at December 31st realizing you haven't achieved most (if any) of the specific goals you listed..cuz you also know that life happens and you change, and so can your goals. Long story short, my goal is just to take care of myself and do everything in order to be happy and then people around me will also be happier πŸ™‚
