NASTY Weather in USA

Anyone in the Midwest that's getting slammed with the Polar Vortex, how are you planning to deal? We've gotten 10 inches so far today with another 4 on the way, and then tomorrow through the end of Thursday, we're getting windchills of -40F or worse.

We bought groceries to last for the week, and I'm not planning to go outside until Thursday unless it's to shovel. We may have cabin fever by the time all is said and done, but it's NASTY out! What are you doing to stay toasty?

I've heard Ed complaining about his "winter" over there... to me it's t-shirt weather!

Ha-ha..I guess so Slim...but that's because of that palm skirt he's been dressed with 😀

I can't even imagine what is like living on a place where it's always warm..must of being boring...I guess.

But one thing is for sure you don't need that many of a long sleeves tops.. and investing more in beer...just a thought.

No...not for me...I'd prefer all kind of weather and...drinks instead 😉

Although the weather have been really kinky here for the last decade or so.

You know it gets cold here. Well, cold for me anyway. Anything below 20C (68F) is getting a bit uncomfortable. 😉

A lot of houses like mine don't have central heating or anything because it is unnecessary for 9 months of the year. I've had friends from overseas complain about how cold they were here in winter because they are used to walking in to places that are fully heated everywhere back home.

It's all relative I guess. I remember being in the UK many years ago around November - December and it was freezing cold for me, maybe 2 or 3C. Then one day the weather hit 12 or something and I thought to myself wow its feeling quite warm today.

15-20C... that's the perfect temperature for me 🙂

But I guess you have a point there Ed about not having a centralized heating down in Australia, UK is nowhere near of being among the coldest regions of Europe though.

And by the way heating a whole house or apartment could be quite expensive as well, pumping the electricity bills to the roof which is quite tough financially for some of the people here...but I guess that's just a local issue.

Homes in Australia aren't very well insulated and there's always places where the cold sneaks in. Here's a picture of what most people look like inside their homes during winter, truly it's only just a slight exaggeration! I regularly wear my outdoor winter coat inside 😂

Hey it can get down to freezing 8 degrees celcius (about 46F) here in Sydney - that's cold!! 😀
But I guess that would be paradise for Slim right now.
